Universal Light and Sound began at a grassroots level in the shadow of the ‘90s downtown party scene. In 2007, ULS was born from a partnership with Mina Sani and Mark Johnson. Together Mina and Mark expanded their company and made ULS a fixture in New York’s wedding and special event industry. From hip raw spaces in Brooklyn to penthouses suits in Manhattan, ULS continues to deliver top-notch service.

Mina Sani is no stranger to the entertainment world. Her extensive knowledge of the entertainment industry, along with Mark’s creative vision, made them the perfect team to bring ULS to life.

While a student at NYU’s Stern Business School, co-founder Mark Johnson worked nightly at well-known venues in New York City. As a result, he found himself drawn to the technology behind the music and lighting at events. After graduating from NYU, he became even more active in New York City’s event industry. While juggling a day job as an Information Technology Systems Engineer at Goldman Sachs, he continued to grow what has become Universal Light and Sound.
