Why Meg & Patrick Chose The Greenpoint Loft

Located in a restored pre-WWII warehouse, The Greenpoint Loft is beloved for its timeless character. Meg and Patrick were drawn to the high ceilings, exposed wooden beams. Furthermore, the original brickwork adds to the space its unique, industrial-chic aesthetic. For Meg & Patrick, the venue offered a “blank canvas.” In fact, the open, versatile layout allowed them to bring their specific vision to life without fighting against existing decor. They utilized the multi-level design to perfection, creating distinct experiences for their guests. The natural light flooding through the large windows created a warm atmosphere for the daytime portion of the celebration. But as the sun went down, the focus shifted to the custom lighting design.

Circular String Lighting with Greenery

The centerpiece of the reception was a stunning overhead installation. Meg and Patrick opted for String Lights arranged in a circular, star-shaped “starburst” pattern. This design choice did more than just illuminate the room. In fact, it created a high-impact visual effect that drew the eye upward. As a result, highlighting the venue’s soaring ceilings while keeping the atmosphere intimate. To elevate the look further, the couple paired the warm white String Lights with hanging greenery. This mixture of organic elements and industrial architecture produced a fairytale effect, often described as an “enchanted forest.”

This setup worked beautifully for several reasons:

  • Focal Point: The circular installation acted as a major anchor for the room, perfectly framing the dance floor.
  • Whimsy and Romance: The design adds a touch of bohemian elegance to the raw space.
  • Photography: The warm glow of the bulbs provided flattering light for guests and created a magical background for photos.

Magic String Lighting on the Rooftop Terrace

The experience didn’t end indoors. The Greenpoint Loft is famous for its rooftop deck. In fact, it boasts iconic vistas of the East River, the Empire State Building, and the Manhattan skyline. Meg and Patrick extended their lighting design to the terrace. Therefore, ensuring the outdoor space felt just as curated as the interior. String Lights were draped across the rooftop, as a result adding essential illumination as evening fell. Furthermore, creating a cozy, romantic ambiance that encouraged guests to linger outside, enjoy cocktails, and take in the view. The lights provided a soft, beautiful glow that complements the city lights across the river.

Setting the Mood

One of the practical benefits of this lighting setup was its versatility. In addition, by connecting the installation to a dimmer, the mood of the room could transition seamlessly throughout the night. The lights were bright enough for dining but could be softened to creating an intimate, candle-lit vibe for dancing. Meg and Patrick’s wedding proved that lighting is more than just a utility—it is a powerful design tool. By combining the raw, industrial beauty of The Greenpoint Loft with the soft, whimsical charm of String Lights, they created an immersive experience that their guests won’t soon forget.
