Sophie + David’s Love Story: A Wedding at The Foundry
Sophie and David’s wedding at The Foundry capped a love story that began in 2018 and survived study abroad, a pandemic, and years of friendship before blossoming into romance. Their November 2024 proposal led to a celebration featuring Universal Light and Sound’s mirror balls, dance floor color wash, and string lights.

Some love stories start with fireworks. Sophie and David’s started with a college friend’s insistence: “You HAVE to meet him.”
That was 2018. David was in Prague for a semester abroad with several of Sophie’s friends. When everyone returned to campus that fall, the introduction finally happened. They became friendly acquaintances, crossing paths through mutual friends and campus life.

Sophie and David: From Prague to The Foundry
In 2019, their paths crossed again — this time creatively. David music directed NYU’s production of Into the Woods, and Sophie played Cinderella. Working together deepened their connection, and by senior year in 2020, they’d become genuinely close friends.
Then COVID hit. Like so many relationships during that time, theirs faded into the background of lockdowns and uncertainty. They lost touch.

A Text That Changed Everything
Fast forward to September 2021. Sophie had just wrapped an acting contract and realized she barely knew who was still in New York City. On a whim, she texted David. He was around. He wanted to hang out.
That single text sparked something. They started seeing each other daily, and their friendship quickly became the center of both their lives.
On November 5, 2021, everything shifted. Two friends went to a Broadway show together, and by the end of the night, they’d kissed. That evening officially became their first date.
Just weeks later, only three days after making things official, Sophie and David both caught COVID four days before Christmas. They quarantined together in New York, spending a sick but memorable holiday as a newly minted couple.

By 2023, their relationship had grown roots. On the rainiest day in NYC history, they moved into what they describe as the most perfect apartment in the world.
Then, on November 4, 2024, David surprised Sophie with a proposal that lead to their wedding at the Foundry. According to Sophie, it remains the best day of her life so far.

Mirror Balls and A Color-Wash Bringing the Celebration to Life
When it came time to plan their wedding at The Foundry, the space reflected the joy of their journey. Universal Light and Sound helped set that tone. Mirror balls and a vibrant color changing wash transformed the main room’s dance floor with up-lights against it’s walls. Outside, string lights illuminated the courtyard, creating a warm, magical atmosphere for guests to gather under the stars.
