Electric cars may be the future of the automotive industry, but there’s something special about a powerful internal combustion engine. Such is the case with Bentley’s iconic W-12 motor. It has been at the heart of many of the brand’s opulent cruisers since 2003. However, the era of the petrol-powered engine is coming to an end. Moreover, as part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, Bentley announced the end of production for its iconic W-12 motor. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at Bentley’s internal combustion engine heritage. In addition, we will look at how Bentley plans to move towards a sustainable future.

Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England, has been the birthplace of the iconic W-12 motor for over two decades. Bentley’s W-12 engine produces over 600 horsepower and has a top speed of more than 200 mph. In addition, it has been the centerpiece of many of the brand’s most luxurious and powerful models. Ending production of the W-12 motor is part of Bentley’s strategy to become a leader in sustainable luxury mobility. The company plans to fully electrify its entire model line by the start of the next decade. As a result, Bentley will reduce its fleet average emissions to 0 g/km CO2.
